Crush Wines are proud to celebrate the success of our partner winemaker, Martin Wassmer in the UK press. Renowned wine critic Jane Macquitty, has recently given Wassmer’s Pinot Noir a stellar review in The Times.
Martin Wassmer’s Pinot Noir from Baden was mentioned in Macquitty’s recent article ‘German Wines to Change Your Mind’ in which in which she called the wine ‘majestic’ with ‘bold, bright gamey fruit.’ This subtly oaked Pinot Noir is also a winner of the Wine Society’s Wine Champion 2023.
The Martin Wassmer vineyards are located in Baden, an idyllic region often referred to as the ‘German Tuscany’ and has a long history of winemaking in its own right. German wines have really come into their own this year, as noted in the article, Wassmer’s Pinot Noir ‘gives Burgundy a run for its money.’
This follows a great review from worldwide wine expert Julia Harding MW : ‘Lightish mid crimson with a soft pink rim. Sweet red-fruited Pinot aroma, pure, bright and fresh. A delicate but not simple style of the variety. ‘ This review comes from the internationally respected Jancis Robinson platform.
A huge congratulations to the Martin Wassmer team!
Martin Wassmer wines are available from the Wine Society.
