Martin Wassmer’s 2017 Spätburgunder Markgräflerland recently featured amongst the best Pinot Noir wines available to purchase in the UK according to The Sunday Times.
The article discusses the challenging aspects of growing and producing pinot noir. Due to the variety’s thin skin, the grapes are sensitive and susceptible to sunburn when exposed to higher temperatures. In a cooler climate such as Baden, Germany, pinot noir finds the optimal conditions to thrive and produce wines with deep concentration, finesse and elegance.
Will Lyon’s review reads: “You won’t be disappointed with this beguiling example from the Markgräflerland region. It has a toasty nose with a touch of damp forest floor, notes of cherry and raspberry and good length on the finish.”
